Professional Development for Schools

The Office of Instructional Technology can provide assistance with planning and/or facilitating staff development activities. We offer a variety of formats - after school, full day sessions on Professional Development days, or small group planning and training sessions. Administrators, Liaisons, and Elementary Technology Integration Teachers who are interested in assistance, should contact the Office of Instructional Technology (410-887-8918) to arrange for professional development activities and support.

Technology Inservice Courses
The primary goal of inservice courses is to teach teachers how to design activities that integrate the use of licensed instructional software into daily instruction. Teachers attending inservice courses will:

  • Learn how to use instructional software through model technology integrated activities.
  • Create a scoring tool to assess technology and content standards.
  • Create an activity that integrates the use of technology indicators with content indicators to support the BCPS Essential Curriculum and/or the Voluntary State Curriculum.
  • Share knowledge and learning activities with colleagues and reflect on best practices.

Inservice courses are offered after school at a variety of locations throughout the county. Teachers can earn one MSDE credit for successful completion of a course.

For more detailed information about our courses, visit Technology Integration Inservice Courses.

To register, visit the Inservice Course Registration through the Professional Development Center.

Technology Integration Institutes
The primary goal of the institutes is to teach teachers how to design lessons that integrate the use of technology into daily instruction. Another important goal of the institutes is to help teachers develop strategies for integrating technology into the science and math content areas. All work is based upon the Maryland Teacher Technology Standards and the BCPS Learning Goals and Indicators, PreK-12. Teachers will use content and technology indicators that are already a part of the BCPS curriculum.

For more information about the Institutes, visit Technology Integration Institutes.

Cohorts
