A successful online learner carries a map just like a traveler on a new adventure. You need to create your own map - a map that clearly states your goals and projected outcomes. It is important to identify what you want to do and how you will be able to assess your own success along the way.

Mapping a Plan

Why have you decided to take an online course rather than a traditional course? Have you thought about how you will feel in this new online learning environment?

Activity 3 provides you with an opportunity to create a map for your new learning experience. Save your map because you may want to refer to it at a later time!

Activity 3

Creating a Map for Success

  1. Click on the link Creating a Map for Success to open the interactive PowerPoint.
  2. When prompted, select SAVE and browse to your designated location.
  3. Open the PowerPoint and enter Presentation Mode.
  4. As you work through the PowerPoint, use the text boxes to record your responses to each of the prompts.
  5. Double-click the Disk to save each of your slides.
  6. Use the Red Arrow on each slide to move to the next slide.
  7. When you have completed the entire slide show, escape from Presentation Mode.
  8. Print the slides with your saved responses.
  9. Place the set of slides in your Online Learning Essentials folder.
