Preparing Your Online Learning Environment

 In an outdoor adventure, like mountain climbing or scuba diving, it is important to check the equipment and the weather conditions. The same applies when starting an online course. You must have reliable equipment and comfortable conditions so you can work properly to reach your learning goals.

Equipment Check

As soon as you have access to your course syllabus, check to make sure you have access to all the technical requirements, the textbook resources, and other equipment you will need to fully participate. If you are missing resources, inform your Mentor Teacher right away!

It can be frustrating to begin an online course and have problems with your Internet connection or broken links.

It is important to carefully examine and prepare your workplace environment before you begin your online course.

For Activities 6 and 7, you will be learning about your workplace environment. You will locate the hardware and software that is needed to successfully participate in an online course.

Prepare Technology Tools

Use the Prepare Technology Tools link determine if your computers at school and at home are ready for online learning. If you have questions, or if you need to install software or download plug-ins, be sure to ask for assistance as soon as possible. Do not install or download without appropriate permission.
