What
is the Liaison Program? What is the Elementary Technology
Integration Teacher Program?
Technology Liaisons, Alternates, and Elementary Technology
Integration Teachers play a critical role in the implementation
of instructional technology in Baltimore County schools.
They provide leadership at the local school level as they
support and train teachers to become independent users of
technology in teaching. Liaisons/alternates provide information,
as well as hardware and software support, to all school
staff members.

Are
there any guidelines for purchasing software?
The Baltimore County Public Schools has developed a
process for evaluating instructional software and web based
resources that are being considered for purchase for use
in our schools. The purpose of this process is to provide
quality resources for improving both student achievement
and instruction while providing equity and standardization
of resources across the county. This process was approved
for use in January 2006. Questions regarding its use should
be directed to the Office of Instructional Technology at
410-887-8918.
Below you will find a PDF file that contains
all of the documents included in the Instructional Software
and Web Based Resources Evaluation Process. You will also
find a Microsoft Word file for each individual document.

indicators that are already a part of the curriculum.
- Inservice
courses are offered after school at a variety of sites
throughout the county. Teachers can earn 1 MSDE credit
for attending these courses. Courses teach participants
how to use an application and focus on integrating this
software into the curriculum. Inservice courses are offered
at the basic and, intermediate, and advanced levels and
include applications such as Microsoft Office,

What
are the Acceptable Use Policies and how do I find them?
Telecommunications is an exciting frontier that offers
new opportunities and poses new challenges. Information
Technologies, such as the Internet, turn the whole world
into an at-hand educational resource. Schools have an obligation
to educate students in the use of these technologies and
to provide a safe learning environment. Adequately preparing
students for this new era requires a commitment from the
entire educational community to formulate guidelines for
the use of telecommunications, to learn about the content
of these tools, and to become informed about their use and
the potential for abuse. The community should set standards
for acceptable use of telecommunications and measures for
enforcement.
