Skills Creating a product/presentation

You'll have numerous options when you're ready to create. Your own creativity and the ability to make use of the knowledge you've accumulated are your biggest limiters, but you'll want to consider some other factors. Make sure you consider the time involved in creating your presentation. Also, make sure you coose a type of presentation that will engage your audience and best showcase the information you've gathered. You'll also want to choose a type of presentation that makes use of your interests and skills. Below you will find twelve categories of presentation types. Each type of presentation has multiple options. The links attached to each option will lead to some brief tutorial information.

Artistic Creates or remixes a graphic image using editing, painting, and layout tools; sometimes includes text or animation capabilities
Draw Island
DrawIsland is an artistic tool that allows users to easily create an illustration by selecting options from a simple toolbar.  Users can add images and text to enhance their original artwork.
draw.to
Draw.to is an artistic tool which allows users to, in their words, "draw anything you like, and share it instantly."  Create and share simple drawings — like those you do on a napkin in real life. Draw for fun or to communicate an idea. When you're done you can share your drawing with a single click!
Trading Card Creator

readwritethink:Trading Card Creator gives students an artistic way to present their literacy knowledge and skill when writing about popular culture texts or real world examples. This interactive allows students to create their own trading card about a real or fictional person, place, object, event, or abstract concept.

Audio Includes the ability to record your own voice or other sounds, sometimes with the ability to edit audio tracks
VoiceThread
VoiceThread is an application that runs inside your web browser, and allows you to place images, videos, documents, and presentations at the center of an audio conversation. These conversations are not live; they take place whenever and wherever it's convenient for people to participate.  Use VoiceThread for storytelling, as a presentation tool, to encourage discussion and collaboration.  

Voki

Voki is a FREE service that lets you create customized speaking avatars for presentation.  The avatar reads your audio aloud.

audacity
Audacity  is software for recording and editing audio, either single tracks or multiple track, including sources from a microphone a digital audio file such as an mp3, and more.
sound recorder
Windows Sound Recorder is basic software available on all Windows computers for recording basic digital audio files using either a microphone built into your computer, or one that you plug in.
Podcasting
Podcasting allows you to create a podcast in minutes using Audacity and other tools.
Avatar Creates a graphic representation of a real person; sometimes with animation
Voki

Curation Collects, organizes, and displays digital resources; usually in related topics
edmodo
Edmodo is a "facebook-esque" tool that is safe for teachers and students to use.  Simply stated it is an online based virtual learning environment.  Teachers can use it to communicate information with parents and students, assess topics learned in class that day, host at-home discussions, survey students, have groups of students collaborate on work and so much more.
livebinders
LiveBinders  is an online version of a 3-ring binder. A great place to curate different resources virtually. Upload documents and videos, or save weblinks so everything is at the tip of your fingers. Use it to organize yourself or share with others. Information is accessible from anywhere and is updated in real-time.
padlet
Padlet (formerly known as Wallwisher) is an online graffiti wall which can be used for writing, collaboration, curation of ideas and/or brainstorming.  Teachers and students can use Padlet to have discussions, share web links, post notices, collect feedback, or watch and share videos. Padlet accounts are free and you can make as many walls as you like. Students do not have to create an account to post on your walls. The notes you post can contain links, videos, images, and document files.
Game Generator Creates digital games or activities that include a goal, challenges, rules, user interaction, and entertainment

Classtools: Arcade Game Generator is a free assessment tool that allows teachers to "input one set of questions and answers, and generate a whole batch of interactive, arcade-style games. [view examples] You can save them for use in the class, embed them in your blog/website/wiki!" Game choices include Matching Pairs, Word Shoot, Flashcards, Manic Miner and Cannonball Fun.

Classtools: Dustbin Game   is a game generating tool which could be use for classwork or assessment.  The site allows users to input words or phrases which will be sorted in up to four different categories.  The player must sort the words or phrases correctly in the least amount of time.
mission mapquest
Classtools: Mission Mapquest  is a game generator which can be used for assessing map skills.  The site allows users to create a game in which users must find certain locations across the globe based on questions you have created.  For example, this is the county where Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister.  The user would zoom to Great Britain and collect the gold coin for a correct answer.
QR Code Generator
Classtools: QR Game Generator  is a tool teachers can use to easily create QR codes.  These QR codes are scanned with a mobile device in order to quickly access a specific resource.  You can link to ANYTHING...photos, videos, websites, audio files, text, etc
Mapping Creates maps or uses maps to present information

Community Walk   is a web-based mapping tool that is dedicated to providing a powerful yet simple and easy to use interface for creating informational, interactive, and engaging maps.
scribble maps
ScribbleMaps  is a simple online mapping tool which allows students to annotate the map using text, flags, shapes and even scribble.  Maps can be saved for presentation later and can also be printed.
Presentation Facilitates the display of information to an audience in a logical and organized format by combining text, graphics, and/or multimedia; it may be static (still) or dynamic (moving)
animated book
Classtools: Animated Book  is a tool which teachers can use for presentations and students can use for writing and storytelling.  Users simply type their text onto virtual pages in order to create their book.
brainy box
Classtools: Brainy Box allows users to input text, images, and videos onto a six sided interactive cube which can then be rotated and presented.  
fakebook
Classtools: Fakebook  allows users to create a fake Facebook account for a fictional or historical figure.  Users can select to add photos, videos, status updates, friends and more.  If you can do it on Facebook, then you can probably do it on Fakebook.
living graph
Classtools: Living Graph  is a timeline and presentation tool.  The site encourages students not only to select the most important events within a topic, but also to rate them against criteria such as success and failure, strength and weakness and so on.
post-it

Classtools: Post-it   allows users to create labels and place them over any image they upload.  The site allows you to change the color of the post it and enables users to draw an arrow from the post it to the correct place on the image.

Classtools: Timeline allows users to easily create color coordinated timelines that show events in chronological order.  The events follow along a timeline that users date from start to end.

Classtools: Twister- Fake Tweet   allows users to create fictional "status updates" that can then be printed off for display purposes."  Users get to select the persons username, tweet text, #hashtag, and date. The site will automatically select a picture for the tweet.
google story builder
Google Story Builder  is a writing, presentation, and storytelling tool.   Users choose characters and a title and tell their story.  It is created into a movie complete with music.
Inspiration
Inspiration is used for visual mapping, outlining, and writing. Brainstorm ideas, structure thoughts and visually communicate concepts. Take notes, organize information, and structure writing. Easily provide audio support (Available through the school Technology Liaison)

Lego City Comic Builder is an online tool for storytelling and presentation. The site allows students to choose a layout, background, characters, text and more to help them create their very own comic strip.

Make Beliefs Comix is a digital communication and storytelling site that students can use to express themselves and communicate by creating their own world of comic strips. Students have a choice of characters with different moods and the chance to write words and thoughts for them.
powerpoint
PowerPoint allows users to create electronic slideshow presentations. PowerPoint 2013 is available on many BCPS computers. This screencast walks you through answering questions you have by simply using the help icon. It should also be useful to users of older versions of PowerPoint.   
prezi

Prezi is a unique presentation tool which can be used to help "spice" up your lessons.  The presentations are not necessarily linear likePowerPoint.  They can take on many different forms.  The user can use one of the templates provided by Prezi or choose the blank template to create one from scratch.  Within the Prezi the user can insert text, images, symbols and shapes, diagrams, YouTube videos, Background music, a file from his/her computer like a PowerPoint or Word document. If you want to create a FREE presentation, make sure you choose the option that says "continue with public presentations." You have to enter an email address to create an account, but this email address doesn't need to be verified before continuing, and the presentations are saved online.

 TimeToast  is a place to create and share timelines on the web. You can create historical timelines of important events, or build a timeline of your vacation. It's all up to you and your imagination.

Video Includes the ability to record visual images, sometimes with the ability to edit video tracks and incorporate still images and audio tracks.
movie maker
Windows Movie Maker allows you to edit together film clips taken with your FlipCam or smart phone. You can also make slideshows using photos and audio clips.
Word Cloud Visually represents text data; using font size and/or color to denote frequency and/or category
tagxedo
Tagxedo  is a word cloud service similar to Wordle.  You can enter text by typing, using a website address, a Google search term, or general news topic.  Choose your shape, orientation, font and theme and then Tagxedo will do the rest.
wordle

Wordle  is an application for generating word clouds from text that you provide. Wordle allows students to work closely with words and make interpretations since the clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes.

wordsift
Wordsift  is much more than just a word cloud tool because Wordsift identifies and "sifts" out the most important words in a piece of text.  These words appear larger than the other words in the cloud. Wordsift allows users click on any word in the Wordsift and access the Visual Thesaurus® and Google search results.
