Since
you arrived at this page I assume you have a basic understanding of how
to use a browser, such as Netscape or Internet Explorer to get around on
the Internet.
Just a reminder: A browser is software that needs to be installed on your computer in order to "see" the Internet. Netscape may be purchased for a small charge at a computer superstore, through mail order catalogs or downloaded free from the Internet. (of course, you have to have a browser to do a download!) Internet Explorer is also free by downloading from the Internet or is often included in many software packages.
We will now take a closer look at using
browser software. There are several tutorials provided below. Choose any one.
- Introduction to Netscape 3.0 for Macintosh (by Penn State University)
Even though this tutorial uses Netscape 3.0, Internet Explorer has many
of the same features. You will want to start this tutorial by clicking
on the topic "Start-up Window" listed below. (The beginning of this tutorial
is aimed at the students attending the University and is not applicable
to anyone else, so we will skip the beginning.)
- Webteacher
Tutorial (by Comcast) will allow you to select
the computer operating system (Mac or Windows) and the browser (Netscape
or Explorer) you wish to use for the tutorial. When you enter this site,
begin the tutorial at #1 - Web
Browsers - Browser Basics.
