Parent Internet Education

Curriculum

 Parent Internet Survey

A Parent Internet Survey of 8,000 parents was conducted in March of 1998 to determine what parents already know, want to learn, and how they currently use or not use the Internet with their children. The results of the survey were used to design a series of local school workshops for parents.

 Local School P.I.E. Training Sessions

During the 1998-1999 school year, P.I.E. Training Teams consisting of the school librarian, teachers, parents, students, and grandparents will provide a series of six workshops to deliver the Parent Internet Education Curriculum. These local school training teams are the "heart and soul" of the Parent Internet Education initiative whose efforts to reach out into their local communities will maximize parental involvement and provide a more personalized approach to technology education.

The schedule of workshops will be available at your
child's school.

 P.I.E. Curriculum Development

A writing team of school library media specialists with input from community members has developed a curriculum for a series of six local school Parent Internet Education workshops which will be held during the 1998-1999 school year. The goal of the curriculum development team was to design the structure and content for training teams to ensure that a universal message is delivered to parents.
