Baltimore County Public Schools are poised to set the stage for a national movement in information technology. The Office of Library Information Services has joined with several other public and
private agencies to develop and deliver a series of Internet learning opportunities for families. This initiative promises to join us to

President Clinton's and Vice President Gore's quest to build a
family-friendly Internet.

The Parent Internet Education (P.I.E) initiative will offer parents of Baltimore County Public Schools students and other Maryland counties a variety of learning experiences to demonstrate that the Internet can be a safe, educational, valuable, and entertaining resource for families.

Baltimore County is leading the nation as a model for Parent Internet Education (P.I.E). No other school system in the country has undertaken to offer systemwide as many Internet learning experiences to as many of its parents. Articles and publicity have appeared in eSchool News Journal, Education Week, Baltimore Sun Newspaper, Towson University Focus Newsletter, School Safety Journal, and the Benton Foundation.
