Visit the Planets

Step Three

Exhibition

In this step, you will prepare and present your information about visiting the planets.
Use your K-W-L chart and your database to help synthesize your research and prepare your display on the clothing, equipment and other adaptations astronauts will need to explore other planets. Synthesize means to bring pieces together to make a new whole. In other words, you will take your pieces of research information and create a whole new product to show what you have learned.

Before you begin, recall the main question you were asked to consider.

How do environments on different planets affect clothing, equipment, and other adaptations necessary for human survival?

Some other questions were:

  • Which factors are most important to enable a person to survive on another planet?
  • How does temperature affect the ability to live on a planet?

Remember, you must have gathered information about the diameter, the distance from the sun, the average temperature, the composition, and the atmosphere for each planet assigned to your group.
Making the final product of a "display"

Organizing and preparing the final product:

  • Decide in your group who will be responsible for preparing the information on each planet.
  • Design drawings or gather pictures of the clothing, equipment, and adaptations you are recommending.
  • Justify each recommendation based on what you have learned about the planets.
  • Check, capitalization, usage, punctuation, and spelling on your final product. C-U-P-S
  • Combine the finished efforts of your group.
  • Remember to check the assessment for your product.

Presenting the display to the teacher and classmates:

  • Orally share the information and show the display.
  • Summarize with your class what you have learned.
  • Display the final product and enjoy your great work!
