lMD Voluntary State Curriculum:
lThe students will compose a written presentation that express information by:
l4A.2.c Composing to inform using relevant support and a variety of appropriate organizational structures and signal words within  a paragraph.
l4A.4. Assessing the effectiveness of choice of details, organizational pattern, word choice, syntax, use of figurative language, and rhetorical devices in the student’s own composing.
l
lObjective:
l Students will practice note-taking skills in order to prepare to compose an essay.
lTeacher Note:
l You may want to make copies in advance of   the chart on Slide 2 for note-taking.
l Prepare copies of the Forget-Me-Not Graphic Organizer for note-taking.
l       You may want to make copies of the certificate on Slide 4.
l      
lDifferentiation:
lAllow students to work in pairs to support struggling readers.                   
lProvide copies of all text to highlight student information.                
lUse of graphic organizers to scaffold reading and organize thinking.
l
lTime Management Strategies:
lThis is one 45 minute lesson.
l Extra time may be allotted for examination of sites in enrichment activity.
l
lTechnology Infusion: 
lStudents will fill in chart on Slide 2 using Power Point.                         
lStudents will access linked web sites.
lStudents will complete “Certificate of Recognition” using Power Point.
