attack on Pearl Harbor by
the Japanese marked the beginning
of World War II. Many people were concerned that the number of Japanese –Americans living in the United States posed a threat to national safety.
The internment camps were formed as a direct result of that fear. Over
120,000 people were forced to
live in camps with poor
conditions, inadequate
medical help, and great stress.
