The Mayor of Skeeterville has asked citizens to help improve the playground environment. To educate the citizens of Skeeterville, your teacher wants you to create a field guide about mosquitoes. To create your field guide you must research the following:

To create your field guide, you will: 1. Print and color the cover page to your guide. Glue it on the front of your guide (folder). 2. Print the field guide checklist and place in your guide (folder). 3. Is a mosquito an insect? Read the article called Insects and Arachnids Then complete and print the Insect or Not? activity for your guide. 4. What are the characteristics of a mosquito? Label the parts of a mosquito. Print a copy for your guide. 5. How does a mosquito grow? To read about the mosquito's life cycle, click on this life cycle activity. Complete the activity and print a copy for your guide. 6. Are mosquitoes helpful or harmful? Click here to make predictions. Then read the Helpful or Harmful article. Don't forget to go back and check your predictions. Then print a copy for your guide. 7. Watch the video on the Life Cycle of the Treehole Mosquito! Be patient while the video loads 8. How can you control mosquitoes? Enjoy the slide show as you learn. 9. Write your letter (online letter form or printable letter form) to the Mayor of Skeeterville. Print your letter. 10. Print a copy of the scoring tool for the letter and complete.
