Hierarchical Search Tips |
| 1. | Have your written questions with you before you begin your search. | ||
| 2. | Open a multimedia encyclopedia to the main menu page. Click on the hierarchical search feature.

| 3. | Select from the displayed categories the one most likely to meet your research needs and click to view subtopics. Example: Social Science |

| 4. | Scan the subtopics to find out which ones relate to your research topic. Think about which ones might contain information to answer your questions. Continue until you see a list of article titles. | ||
| 5. | Select the article that best relates to your topic and click to view the article. | ||
| 6. | Check the article outline to locate the section that contains information about your research questions. Scan and skim for answers. | ||
| 7. | Use your graphic organizer to record notes about answers to your questions. Remember to write only important words and phrases. | ||
