You could be spending the summer as an intern with MegaGraphics. Over 250 students applied and you are among the final 10 and only twowill be chosen. If selected, you will be flown to California to work side by side with our graphic designers on our new project - designing a CD cover for a "soon to be" released movie sound track. As you may already know, we have designed many interactive games, several animated cartoons, designs for wallpaper, etc.
Obviously,
creativity is an important part of being a graphic designer but
a knowledge of Geometry, Algebra and computer programming is a
MUST!!!! With this in mind, MegaGraphics
will be making the final selection for the summer interns based
on their knowledge of a small area of math used by graphic designers
- FRACTALS!!

The final phase of the selection process will be a short presentation. In less than a month, a selection committee from MetaGraphics will be coming to Baltimore to see your presentation. To get ready for this presentation, you should bring with you a portfolio and a sample of your creativity - a CD cover.
What
essential information should you communicate to the representatives
about FRACTALS? During
your presentation, you will want to appear relaxed and knowledgeable
about this topic.
Keep in mind that you will only have 15 minutes to convince the
committee that you should be selected as one of the summer interns.
You will create
a portfolio from your research and you will design the background
for a CD cover using any of the fractals you have investigated
or one that you created. Both of these should to be completely
designed by you. Assume that you have been contracted to
design this CD cover for a new game, a new sound track, or...
Use your imagination!! The cover should be the same size
as a regular CD - no bigger please.
