Team Task: Technology Staff Development Plan |
| Purpose | Team members will investigate best practices in technology staff development. Preparing students as knowledge workers requires teacher knowledge of information and technology literacies and effective and purposeful use of technology for teaching and learning. |
| Task | Develop a 1-year staff development plan for Chesapeake High School and its feeder schools by applying best practices in technology education, Maryland Technology Standards for Teachers, Maryland Technology Standards for School Administrators, and information literacy staff development based on the knowledge and skills staff need to effectively use and integrate technology with instruction. In addition, you will work with Fran Glick, Professional Research Librarian, on the planning of MDK12 Digital Library staff development for Chesapeake and the STEM cluster schools (Middle River and Deep Creek middle schools and, Middleborough , Sandalwood, Deep Creek, Mars Estates, Sussex, Chase, and Seneca elementary schools). In October 2006, Thea Jones and Barbara Skillman of the Office of Instructional Technology will collect staff development needs from the faculty using the Technology Skills Self-Assessment Survey for Professional Development. This self-assessment tool is based on the the Office of Instructional Technology document - Technology Skills Continuum for Professional Development. Review the ppt presentation she will use to explain the self assessment. Faculty will retain the self-assessment survey; however, professional development needs will be indicated on the form Technology Skills Professional Development Selections. This information is essential to your assignment; therefore, you will need to contact Thea Jones to offer assistance with data gathering and to obtain results of the faculty self assessment.
