Team Task: Marketing the STEM Academy School Library Media Center
Purpose

Participants will investigate best practices and methods in marketing the STEM Academy at Chesapeake High School. The marketing plan will serve as an essential public relations strategy. It will be used to inform the community at large (local, state, and national community and potential business partners) to embrace and support the vision, mission, and goals of the STEM grant.

Task

The plan should be developed in concert with Ron Koontz of Career and Technology Education to encompass the following:

  • Developing a statement and document of the critical need for STEM education and the strides Chesapeake is making to address this critical need in our nation. Capture major concepts from the grant.
  • How can business partners and various communities and stakeholder support and embrace the STEM Academy implementation? What is needed? How much investment of time, effort, funding is needed?
  • Who are the potential business partners? Why? How can they help?
  • What local community group can help locate partners, e.g., Chamber of Commerce, Maryland Business Roundtable, etc.
  • Your final product is to include a presentaion to the class as well as a public relations packet that includes the components listed above.
