Access and Thomas PowerPoint Presentation
GPO Access links the public to nearly 105,000 individual
titles on GPO's servers and an additional 68,000 titles on other
Federal web sites. Overall, more than 520 million documents have
been retrieved by the public from GPO Access since 1994. Monthly
document retrievals today average more than 21 million, or about
924 gigabytes of information.
CGP (Catalog of U.S. Government Publications)
The Catalog is a search
and retrieval service that provides bibliographic records of U.S. Government information resources. Use it to link to Federal
agency online resources or identify materials distributed to Federal
Depository Libraries. Coverage begins with July 1976 and new
records are added daily.
The Gateway to 21st Century Skills
The Gateway (formerly known as GEM) was developed with funds from the U.S. Department of Education to provide teachers with learning resources created by over 750 publicly funded organizations. The Gateway expands educators' capability to access Internet-based lesson plans, instructional units and other educational materials in all forms and formats.
GILS (Government Information
Locator Services)
The Government Information Locator Service (GILS) is a new way
to identify, locate, and describe publicly available Federal information
resources, including electronic information resources. GILS records
identify public information resources within the Federal Government,
describe the information available in these resources, and assist
in obtaining the information. GILS is a decentralized collection
of agency-based information locators using network technology
and international standards to direct users to relevant information
resources within the Federal Government.
FREE (Federal
Resources for Educational Excellence)
On April 18, 1997, President Clinton asked Federal agencies to
determine what "resources you can make available that would
enrich the Internet as a tool for teaching and learning."
In response, more than 30 Federal agencies formed a working group
to make hundreds of federally supported education resources available
at FREE. Subjects include: Arts, educational technology, foreign
languages, health and safety, language arts, math, physical education,
science, social studies, and vocational education.

This service is provided by the Center for Emerging Technologies
within the Federal Technology Service,
General Services Administration. Searchable databases of federal
agencies, employment, grants/loans, consumer product recalls,
consumer issues, traveling abroad, government publications, passport/visa
information, patent & trademarks, real estate, medicare, small
business, and much more.
Ben's
Guide to U.S. Government for Kids
Service of the Superintendent of
Documents, U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO). Ben's Guide
serves as the educational component of GPO Access, GPO's service
to provide the official online version of legislative and regulatory
information. This site provides learning tools for K-12 students,
parents, and teachers. These resources will teach how our government
works, the use of the primary source materials of GPO Access,
and how one can use GPO Access to carry out their civic responsibilities.

GPO is currently working on developing an online bookstore to
better assist users in finding
Federal information products available for sale through GPO.
In the meantime, customers
