Talent Development
Primary Talent Development Goals
Model best practices which provide learning experiences such
that all children (K-2) have opportunities to demonstrate
advanced learning capabilities or the potential for advanced
learning.
Identify strengths of students and collect observational
data over time in order to build student profiles, guide instructional
decisions, and recognize students who may be in need of gifted
and talented educational services.
Provide enrichment and differentiation for students who have
been traditionally underserved in Gifted and Talented Education
Programs.
Provide primary teachers with practical resources and staff
development for implementing differentiated and performance-based
instruction that extends and enriches grade level curricula.
Why Implement Primary Talent Development? PTD recognizes
that the primary years offer unique opportunities to ignite
and develop the potential of young learners. Natural learning
behaviors are nurtured and challenged through hands-on experiences,
discovery activities, and child-sensitive explorations. Teachers
observe and document targeted behaviors to guide instructional
decisions and develop childrens strengths, interests,
and abilities.
