Office of Music

Mission
The Office of Music serves as a catalyst for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the music curriculum in Baltimore County Public Schools. Guided by the Blueprint for Progress and other major initiatives, the office provides direction and support for schools in delivering a comprehensive, engaging, and challenging music program for all children in Grades K-12.

Additionally, the Office of Music:
  • Provides leadership in planning, developing and delivering rigorous music instruction
  • Develops and implements curricular programs aligned to state and national standards and designed to provide active and engaging music experiences for all students.
  • Provides direct service to schools and conducts professional development for teachers.
  • Offers countywide enrichment opportunities to provide students with additional experiences in order to develop higher levels of performance skills.
  • Uses current technology as a tool for extending and enhancing student achievement in music.
  • Assesses music instruction through the analysis of performance assessment data.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community stakeholders and partners.
