The Office of Student Data provides and supports student information systems for all Baltimore County Public Schools. The student information systems currently supported include Student Tracking and Registration System (STARS), schools’ student scheduling system (SILK), and special education system (TieNet).
Student Data also coordinates and provides assistance to schools and offices in response to federal and state audits on student demographic data including official enrollment, special education services, and other special program participation. The department provides services to assist schools in maintaining compliance with applicable student records regulations.
While the department’s primary function is to provide information for mandated state and federal reporting requirements, Student Data takes great pride in its role of assisting schools in the efficient and accurate collection and use of student data. Also, through its sharing of student data with other BCPS offices and information systems, the Office of Student Data plays an essential role in providing the critical information needed by central office and school administrators to make data driven decisions that help make BCPS a leader in delivering quality education.
