Hardware Inventory
The Hardware Inventory section of the Department of Technology
is responsible for documentation, inventory updates, and equipment
removal of all computer systems, printers and other peripherals
purchased by BCPS for schools and offices.
Baltimore County Public Schools currently has over 27,000 computers
in use throughout the county, and this number is continuously
changing. Hardware Inventory keeps track of these by dealing with
a computer liason in each school building. Each machine has a
unique number used to track it, and each piece of equipment is
documented in a complex database.
Hardware Inventory also provides the computer-to-student ratio
and other statistics about equipment use.
