The Administrative Support Group provides leadership in the implementation of BCPS Technology standards to all Administrative offices and the Board of Education. We provide training and technical expertise to BCPS administrative personnel and Board Members to assure the effective utilization of all areas of technology. The office also coordinates with executive level staff in the planning and implementation of their offices’ goals as they relate to technology.
Additionally, this office, at the direction of the Chief Information Officer, manages special projects that demonstrate the best practices in the use of technology within our school system.
One of the major special projects performed by this office is the L.i.V.E. Project. The Learning in Virtual Environments (LiVE) project has several components which consist of the following: 1) A new brick and mortar design with the first build out completed at Chesapeake High School incorporating a new lab environment and virtual learning arena for students; 2) game designs built by higher education partners and BCPS students with all game designs based upon BCPS curriculum; 3) professional development for teachers so that gaming concepts can be incorporated into actual classroom environments; 4) a research design model that measures the effects of gaming on student achievement in the classroom; and 5) a Virtual High School (VHS) as a three-dimensional portal for students to engage in all regular classroom activities as well as new learning experiences that can only be accomplished through a virtual environment.
Our commitment is to always provide the highest quality of service in the management and promotion of current information technologies and best practices as they relate to the Board of Education, administrative, support personnel, and the Baltimore County Public Schools.
