Curriculum and Instruction

The Baltimore County Public Schools’ (BCPS) Division of Curriculum and Instruction provides services that impact and support teaching and learning throughout the system. The division is comprised of five departments: Department of Humanities; Department of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM); Department of Professional Development; Department of Special Programs PreK-12; and Student Support Services. The Departments of Humanities, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics(STEM), and Professional Developmentt report directly to the Associate Superintendent, Curriculum and Instruction, and are charged with the design, development, and alignment of systemwide curricular programs and initiatives that address the needs of a diverse student population. The Department of Special Programs, PreK-12 reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Humanities and the Department of Student Support Services reports to the Assistant Superintendent of STEM. Goals for the Division of Curriculum and Instruction:

  • Implement the strategies in the BCPS’ Blueprint for Progress.
  • Develop curricular and instructional programs that provide for active and engaging learning for all students.
  • Align and coordinate the systemwide implementation of key initiatives to improve achievement and performance for all students.
