Skills for Success
Skills for Sucess serves as the core learning goals for
the Work Experience Indicators. The Maryland School Performance
Program resulted from the report of the Governor's Commission
on School Performance which published its recommendations
in 1989. In order to assess student knowledge, the core learning
goals were developed for high school students. These core
learning goals include Skills for Success , which are assessed
though the four content areas of English, mathematics, social
studies, and science. The core learning goals for Skills for
Success identify five areas of student achievement: learning,
thinking, communication, technology, and interpersonal skills.
Skills for Success guides learning and application of content
knowledge. The Baltimore County Public Schools designed the
Essential Curriculum to include core learning goals at the
high school level and specific course indicators that guide
and assess student learning.
