On Thursday January 20, 2005
the Sus Server sent out a HotFix that is causing a problem with
Columbia users. The error being seen is a 16 bit Subsystem Error
"System file is not suitable for running Microsoft and Windows
applications. Users need to remove Windows 2000 Hot fix KB840987.
Follow the steps below to fix this error.
- Go to the Start button and select Settings
then Control Panels.
- Double click Add/Remove Programs.
- Scroll down list and find Windows 2000 HotFix KB840987.
- Click the Remove button.
- A message will appear stating that the Windows 2000 HotFix is
about the be removed. Click on Next.
- A message will appear asking to confirm the removal of the HotFix.
Click on Yes.
- Restart the machine.
- Launch Columbia.
