Customer Support CenterOutlook - Junk Mail Filter

Sometimes your BCPS e-mail account may be added into a SPAM mailing system or unwanted junk mail. Outlook provides filters that allow you to specify which e-mails are junk mail and then the program will delete them automatically when any new mail from that sender is received. The directions below detail how to accomplish this.

  1. Launch Outlook and open your Inbox.
  2. Click on the Organize Button. organize button If the Organize button does not appear on your screen, go to the Tools menu and select Organize from there.
  3. A window pane will slide down from the top. Click on the Junk E-Mail link on the left-hand side.
  4. There are two pull-down menus that need to be modified now. Next to the top bullet change the first pull-down to move and then the second pull down to Deleted Items.
  5. Finally click the Turn on button to activate the filter. (see graphic below)organize window
  6. Click on the Organize button to hide the Ways to Organize window.
  7. When a message appears in your Inbox that you feel is junk mail click on it once to highlight it.
  8. Go to the Actions menu and select Junk E-Mail then Add to Junk Senders list. The next time mail comes from this sender it will be deleted. (see graphic below)add to senders list
  9. You may see the message below after adding a sender to your list. sender message
