On June 5, 2007 all employees assigned to the Timonium Complex will
be required to use strong passwords. On this day every user that
is assigned to the Timonium Complex will need to create a new password.
Any staff member
that calls the Customer Support Center to change their password
after June 4th will be subjected to the new strong password rules.
Keeping your BCPS e-mail password confidential
is very important. This combination will give you access to personal
information as well as your e-mail. Passwords must be between
8 and 28 character long. They also must contain three
of the following criteria:
- a lowercase letter

an uppercase
letter
-
a number
- a
special character (!,#,$,%)
After passwords are changed by the
Customer Support Center users will NOT be able to change them again
for 24 hours. This means that if a user wants to change their password
to a more personal strong password they must wait until the next
day after calling the customer Support Center to obtain the original
password.

The current password
for an account must be known when following these instructions.
Users that have forgotten their password should call the Customer
Support Center at x4672.
Preferred
Method to Change Domain Passwords - Intranet
- Using Internet Explorer log into the BCPS intranet by going
to intranet.bcps.org.
- Enter your username and current password when prompted.
- On the welcome page click on the My Account link.
(see graphic below).

- Click on the Change Password button (see graphic
below).

- On the next screen enter in the last six digits of
your Social Security Number, your old password, your new password
twice. All fields are required. NOTE:
All BCPS passwords are now subjected to higher security standards.
Passwords must be between 8 and 28 characters and contain three
of the following:
- a lowercase letter
- an uppercase letter
- a number

- When the process succeeds the following message will appear.

- Your email password will immediately be changed but it may take
up to 15 minutes for all other password related services, such
as Domain log in to Windows, to be updated.

Alternate
Method to Change Domain Passwords - Internet via Web E-mail
Note to Timonium Complex
Employees only: This method of pasword changing can NOT be used
when your current password has expired. If this has occured please
call the Customer Support Center.
- Using Internet Explorer log into your e-mail account by going
to email.bcps.org.
- Click on the Options icon on the left-hand side of the
screen. (see graphic below)
- When the next screen loads, scroll down to the bottom and click
on the Change Password button. (See graphic below)
- A small window will load. Complete the fields as shown below.
Make sure you type the new password in both the New Password
and Confirm New Password fields the same way. Click on
the OK button NOT the Reset button when finished. (See
graphic below)

- When you have successfully changed your password you will see
the window below. Click on the return link provided. Your e-mail
password has now been changed. Use this password to access the
BCPS intranet and all other web based applications that require
a user name and password. The change is immediate for
your email account but may take up to an hour for the Domain accounts.
