AVID Teacher and Tutor Support

One of the primary goals of the AVID program is for AVID students to remain with the same AVID teacher from grade 9 to grade 12.   A relationship of trust and confidentiality develops between the AVID student and the AVID teacher who is often viewed as an academic and social coach.  The AVID teacher uses The AVID Writing Curriculum Guide, Write Path Curriculum Guide (for core subject areas), as well as Strategies for Success and College and Careers, AVID college preparatory resource guides.  Also, college tutors serve as mentors and provide academic support to AVID students. AVID students experience college life by touring different colleges.
