AVID Data-Driven Results
AVID has expanded from six high schools with 119 students in 2002-2003 to twenty four high schools with 1,208 students in 2007-2008. AVID methodologies and strategies such as Cornell notes, organized notebook binder, and persuasive writing are taught schoolwide. In many AVID high schools, these AVID methodologies and strategies are taught schoolwide. Some of the elementary and middle schools are implementing AVID instructional methodologies and strategies. Thousands of Baltimore County Public Schools’ students are benefiting from the AVID program.
AVID students’ attendance data consistently ranges annually from 94% to 95%. The 2005-2006 High School Assessment data shows AVID students’ percentage pass rates surpassed Non-AVID students’ percentages pass rates in all subjects (English, algebra, American government, and biology). During 2005-2006, all AVID grade 11 and grade 12 students’ participated in one or more Advanced Placement courses and their participation and pass rates on Advanced Placement exams increased.
