The Office of Assistive Technology is a part of Baltimore County Public Schools Office of Special Education’s Related Services Division. Assistive Technology is a device and/or service determined by an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team to be necessary to provide a student with educationally relevant and necessary access to a Free and Appropriate Education (FAPE) in a least restrictive environment (LRE). Assistive technology services must be considered for any student receiving special education as indicated by the federal law, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA, 1997).

Additionally, the Office of Assistive Technology provides:

• Software and Hardware Training and Technical Support
• Lending Library
• Collaborative Training with Towson University and Johns Hopkins University
