The Office of Assistive Technology is a part of Baltimore County Public Schools Office of Special Education’s Related Services Division. Assistive Technology is a device and/or service determined by an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team to be necessary to provide a student with educationally relevant and necessary access to a Free and Appropriate Education (FAPE) in a least restrictive environment (LRE). Assistive technology services must be considered for any student receiving special education as indicated by the federal law, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA, 1997).
