Home Teaching

Home Teaching Program

The Home Teaching program is designed to provide individualized instruction at the residence of an expelled student or at another site, such as a local library. For elementary students, instruction is provided in reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science for a total of six hours a week. For middle and high school, non IEP students, instruction is provided for 4 hours a week. Current competency levels are identified in order to reinforce basic skills and raise student levels in math, reading and writing.

Student Admission

Students expelled from the regular day school program are assigned to home teaching by a Superintendent’s designee.  In some cases, a program review is recommended by the designee.  While the student’s total education program is being reviewed, the student may be removed from the school and instructed by a home teacher.
