Home Teaching Program
Students administratively transferred from the regular day-school program are assigned to home teaching by a Superintendent's Designee. The Home Teaching program is designed to provide instruction to administratively transferred students either at their residence or another site, such as a local library. Secondary students in grades 6 through 12 who have been disciplinarily excluded may be assigned to the e-Learning Center which provides online instruction in the four core subject areas. Middle and high school IEP and selected non-IEP students may be provided one-on-one instruction for four hours a week by a tutor, while elementary students are provided instruction in reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science for a total of six hours a week by a tutor. Comprehensive schools are required to submit instructional materials guidelines for each student assigned to home teaching. One-on-one tutors use the instructional materials guidelines to ensure that they teach the same content taught in the comprehensive school in order to prepare students academically for their return to the regular day-school program.
