The Home and Hospital and Home Teaching programs provide instruction for students in Grades PreK-12 who are restricted from school by appropriate medical personnel for reasons of physical or emotional health, as well as students who have been administratively transferred from their home schools. Students with verified medical conditions, including pregnancy, and students who have been administratively transferred, are taught through online learning or individual instruction in the home, hospital, or therapeutic center.
The Home and Hospital/e-Learning Center is staffed by a combination of full-time and hourly teachers and tutors. At present there are 12 certified BCPS teachers and approximately 180 hourly teachers and tutors for the total student population that exceeds 2500 students.

e-Learning Center
The e-Learning Center currently provides high quality instructional services in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies to middle school students and students enrolled in algebra 2 and geometry. Students learn in web-based environments where instruction is provided via computer through a blended approach that utilizes direct instruction, as well as independent learning. Moodlerooms is the course management system used to support e-Learning Center courses, which follow the BCPS curricula and are enhanced with digital content to increase rigor, engagement, and opportunities to differentiate instruction.
Students enrolled in these courses have 24-hour access to instructional resources, which can be explored by visiting http://elearningcenter.bcps.org/ or http://bcps.mrooms3.net/.
