Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters
Mission Statement
HIPPY programs empower parents as primary educators
of their children in the home and foster parent involvement
in school and community life to maximize the chances of successful
early school experiences.
What is HIPPY?
HIPPY recognizes that parents are their child's first and
most important teacher and helps them work with their four
and five year-olds at home. The program helps these children
build their skills and confidence before first grade.
Parents receive weekly home visits from a trained home visitor.
Home visits include role-playing, learning packets, storybooks,
and materials. The HIPPY program follows the BCPS school calendar.
HIPPY helps parents make a strong home school connection.
