Catonsville Center for Alternative Studies
The Catonsville Center for Alternative Studies offers two programs
for at-risk youth
- An alternative high school program for students who are unsuccessful
in a traditional high school setting that offers:
- Rigorous academic preparation through the implementation
of the Baltimore county Public Schools' high school curriculum,
grades 9-12
- Small-group, computer assisted instruction
- Problem-solving skill development
- Guidance and social work services
- Interpersonal skill development
- Adventure-based counseling/mentoring
- Individual and group counseling
- Mentoring
- Conflict resolution education
- Peer mediation instruction
- Consultative psychological services
- A career-development program for dropouts or those at risk
of dropping out, ages 16-21, offers:
- Initial academic and vocational assessment
- GED preparation
- Career and post secondary education couseling
- Job placement assistance
- Follow-up services upon completion of program
- Adventure-based counseling
- Mentoring
- Individual and group counseling
- Interpersonal skill development
- Consultative psychological services
- Conflict resolution education
- Peer mediation instruction
- Career explorations
