The PSAT/NMSQT is a nationally norm-referenced, standardized test owned and administered by the College Board. The PSAT/NMSQT measures verbal reasoning skills, critical reading skills, math problem solving skills, and writing skills. The test is taken by all students in grades 10 and 11 and some students in grades 9 and 12. The fee for test takers in grades 10 and 11 is paid for by the Office of Assessment. The PSAT/NMSQT provides practice for the SAT, important feedback on areas of strength and weakness in order to focus future SAT preparation, and allows students to qualify for National Merit Scholarship programs.
