Mod-MSA Reading and Mathematics

The Modified Maryland School Assessment (Mod-MSA) program is a modified version of the Maryland School Assessment program (MSA) for students with disabilities, and based on their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), meet the specific participation criteria outlined in the Maryland Accommodations Manual. The Mod-MSA assesses and reports student achievement in Reading and Mathematics. These modified tests are part of the Maryland State Education Accountability program mandated under the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 and contribute towards the measurement of Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). The first administration of the Mod-MSA will occur in March 2009 for students in Grades 6, 7, and 8 only. Subsequent annual administrations will include qualifying students in Grades 3, 4 and 5 as well. Most students will take these assessments online.
