The Modified-High School Assessment (Mod-HSA) program is a modified version of the High School Assessment program (HSA) for students with disabilities, who based on their IEPs, meet the specific participation criteria outlined in the Maryland Accommodations Manual. The Mod-HSA assesses and reports student achievement in algebra/data analysis (Mod-Algebra/Data Analysis), biology (Mod-Biology), English (Mod-English), and government (Mod-Government). The modified tests in algebra/data analysis and English are part of the Maryland State Education Accountability program under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) and contribute towards the measurement of Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). The Modified-Biology assessment also meets the requirements of NCLB, but is not a part of AYP determination. The first administration of the Mod-HSA will occur in May 2008. Most students will be taking the assessment(s) online.
