The Maryland Teacher Technology Standards (MTTS) state that teachers can integrate technology into instruction by designing, implementing, and assessing learning experiences that incorporate the use of technology in curriculum-related instructional activities (Standard V). The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), American Association of School Librarians (AASL), and the Partnership for 21st Century Skills believe that technology can be used in nine key areas to assist with teaching and learning to meet this standard:

• Building conceptual understanding of core content;
• Addressing misconceptions;
  Fostering inquiry & investigation;
• Applying knowledge and skills to interdisciplinary challenges;
• Creating and transforming knowledge for meaningful purposes;
• Collaborating with others;
• Apprenticing with experts;
• Engaging and motivating students;
• Differentiating instruction to meet individual needs.

The BCPS Technology Research Committee is seeking teachers who would be willing to share how the use of technology is enhancing their instruction, increasing student engagement, and student achievement.

Teachers will share their stories via video vignettes, not complete lessons. The total running time should less than 20 minutes. The vignettes will show how teachers and students use various forms of technology to improve critical and creative thinking, collaboration, teamwork, accessing data/information, managing data/information, communication, etc. The video vingettes will show process (e.g. teamwork, collaboration) and/or product (i.e. student work products). The vignettes will be accessible on Safari Montage for use by teachers and staff.
