The Education Foundation seeks businesses, community members to participate in school supply drive

TOWSON, MD — Summer has just begun, but The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools is already accelerating preparations for the 2018-19 school year. Part of that is inviting Team BCPS members to participate in the Tools for Schools school supply drive.

“Everyone – from retirees to elected officials to business partners – has a stake in ensuring a successful start to the new school year for our students and teachers," said Deborah Phelps, the foundation’s executive director. “This year, there are multiple ways organizations and individuals can help – from hosting a school supply drive, volunteering time, or making a monetary donation."

The school supply drive officially runs from Monday, July 2, through Friday, August 24.

During that period, community members can drop off supplies at:

  • Baltimore County Public Library branches
  • Office Depot/Office Max locations in Baltimore County
  • First Financial Federal Credit Union branches
  • Slice in Towson and White Marsh
  • Boscov’s White Marsh
  • The Education Foundation headquarters
  • Pinder Plotkin LLC

In addition, supplies can be dropped off at the following Stuff-a-Bus events:

Saturday, July 21, from 12 – 1 p.m.
Baltimore County Public Library – Cockeysville Branch

Tuesday, July 31, from 2 – 6 p.m.
Pikesville Farmer’s Market
Pomona Square

Thursday, Aug. 16, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

All school supplies are welcome. Those most needed are: 3-ring binders, markers, pencils, notebooks, crayons, colored pencils, erasers. scissors, sticky notes, folders, notebook paper, dividers, pens, rulers, glue/glue sticks, pencil cases, book bags, and reward stickers.

The school supply drive is part of the BCPS annual Back to School Involves You, Too! campaign in association with the Education Foundation of BCPS. Designed to garner community support for BCPS students and schools, the campaign this year also includes BCPSFest (a back-to-school festival), BCPS Day at Camden Yards, Early Entry Day, and more.

The Education Foundation of BCPS, Inc., is a nonprofit organization established to attract and direct public financial contributions to programs and activities of the school system in support of quality education for all children.
