Finalists announced for 2017-18 Baltimore County Elementary and Secondary Principals of the Year

Winners to be announced during April 26 ceremony

TOWSON, MD – Six Baltimore County Public Schools principals have been named finalists for the school system’s annual Elementary and Secondary Principals of the Year awards for 2017 – 2018.

“Through the Principal of the Year program, we honor the considerable talents of the dedicated and innovative educational leaders who guide our schools toward excellence," said BCPS Superintendent Dr. S. Dallas Dance. “These six deserving principals represent a cadre of principals in Baltimore County who are distinguished by their vision and their commitment to children. We are fortunate in Baltimore County to have such a wealth of educational leadership and talent."

From among the finalists, the Elementary and Secondary Principals of the Year will be named during a 6:30 p.m. ceremony on Wednesday, Apr. 26, 2017, at George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology, 938 York Road, Towson 21204. The ceremony also will include the announcement of the 2017 – 18 BCPS Teacher of the Year.

The ceremony will feature student performances and remarks from 2016 – 2017 Baltimore County Teacher of the Year Corey Carter (Northwest Academy of Health Sciences), Elementary Principal of the Year Missy Fanshaw (Rodgers Forge Elementary School), and Secondary Principal of the Year Sandra Reid (Pikesville High School).

The Principal of the Year finalists were selected by a panel of judges representing stakeholders from across the BCPS school community.
