Results announced from BCPS VEX Robotics Competition

Event was part of Saturday’s BCPS Secondary STEM Fair

TOWSON, MD. – Seventeen middle and high schools participated in a VEX Robotics competition, held on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Perry Hall High School, as part of the annual Baltimore County Public Schools’ Secondary STEM Fair. Teams from eight schools were honored with awards.

VEX Robotics offers middle school, high school, and university students a way to learn more about science, technology, engineering, and math while practicing teamwork, leadership, and problem solving.

The 10 judges for the event represented Lockheed Martin Corporation, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers – Baltimore Section, National Society of Black Engineers – Baltimore Metropolitan Alumni Chapter, and University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

In total 46 teams from the following 17 schools participated:

In addition to the event on Saturday, the inaugural BCPS VEX Robotics league concluded on February 22 at Perry Hall High School. The league’s championship alliance was comprised of two teams from Hereford High School: 929W and 929V. The league’s Excellence Award winner was 1727E from Dulaney High School. As a result of their accomplishments in league play, the Hereford High teams 929W and 929V and Dulaney High School team 1727E have qualified for the VEX World Championship, which will be held in Anaheim, California from April 17 to 20, 2013.
