What: State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lillian M. Lowery and Baltimore County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. S. Dallas Dance will visit Dogwood Elementary School to recognize teachers, students, and administrators – including Principal Betty Pettiford – for the school’s latest honor – being named a Title I Superlative Highest Performing Reward School.

To qualify as a Title I Superlative Highest Performing Reward School, Dogwood Elementary had to meet all progress targets for two consecutive years with less than a 10 percent gap between the achievement level of “all students" and any lower performing subgroup. The school also had to have a student population comprised of at least 50 percent students from economically disadvantaged families; rank in the top 10 percent of most improved Title I schools based on Maryland School Assessment results from 2007-2011; and achieve at least an 18 percentage point gain for “all students."
