Superintendent to accept donations for homeless students from Chesapeake Gateway Chamber

Who: Dr. S. Dallas Dance, Superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools, will accept donations on behalf of homeless students from the Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce. The donations will be presented by two of the Chamber’s Board member – Dr. Al Starr of the Community College of Baltimore County and Laura Winpigler of Northwest Savings Bank – and Janelle C. Gwynn, the Chamber’s director. Also in attendance will be Mary Jo Slowey, BCPS homeless education/Title I liaison. What: The Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce is donating $1,500 to support homeless students in Baltimore County Public Schools. These funds were raised at a shrimp feast and bull roast held by the Chamber on June 29. In addition, the Chamber and the Community College of Baltimore County are contributing bookbags and school supplies. When: Thursday, August 30, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. Where: Baltimore County Public Schools Greenwood Campus, Administration Building 6901 Charles Street Towson, Maryland 21204 Background: The Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce was formerly known as the Essex-Middle River-White Marsh Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber supports Baltimore County Public Schools in a number of ways, including an annual awards dinner for outstanding teachers and an annual principals’ breakfast including a panel discussion on education issues.
