TOWSON, MD— Baltimore County Public Schools has launched its first ever blog, Deliberate Excellence, www.deliberateexcellence.wordpress.com, as a forum for exploring trends in public education, analyzing data, highlighting school system operations, and discussing the role of community in strengthening schools. The blog can also be accessed by clicking on the purple "b" logo on the BCPS' Web site, www.bcps.org. Each week, the blog will feature new posts from Superintendent Dr. S. Dallas Dance and other school system leaders. The first post is an entry from Dr. Dance regarding the need for more focus on middle school education. Expanding social media activities is part of the school system’s effort, led by Dr. Dance, to have timely, transparent, and clear communications, and to be responsive to community requests and interests. The Deliberate Excellence blog is the newest element of BCPS' social media initiative, which includes a BCPS Facebook page (www.facebook.com/BaltCoPS ), a BCPS Twitter account (www.twitter.com/BaltCoPS ), and a Superintendent's Twitter account (www.twitter.com/DDance_BCPS).
