25 Baltimore Co. public schools still without power, will remain closed Tuesday, July 3

TOWSON, MD. – Progress continued on restoring power to Baltimore County public schools affected by last week’s storms; 25 schools remained without power as of Monday evening and will be closed on Tuesday, July 3, 2012. Following Friday’s storm, 52 county school sites lost power. That number was down to 42 by Sunday evening and 25 today. “We’ve made great strides in getting all of our schools up and running," said Superintendent Dr. S. Dallas Dance. “This was an extraordinary event. We were fortunate that there was no significant damage to any of our schools. We hope to soon have all of our schools back in full operation as our Department of Physical Facilities continues to do an exemplary job of serving our schools." All activities are cancelled for the schools that remain closed on Tuesday, July 3. Staffs at closed school buildings received instructions from their principals about where to report for work until power is restored at their site. Summer school does not begin in Baltimore County schools until Monday, July 9, but all schools are staffed during summer months for those seeking to enroll students and for other business.
