TOWSON, MD— Teams from Hereford, Dulaney, and Chesapeake high schools and Hereford Middle School were among the award winners at Sack Attack, a VEX Robotics competition hosted by the robotics teams at Dulaney High School. The June 9, 2012, event featured 34 teams, primarily from Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. One team traveled to the event from Maine. Teams REX 1727D from Dulaney High School and Team Hereford Zone Robotics 929W from Hereford High School were named two of the three tournament winners. Team Hereford Zone Robotics 929A from Hereford Middle won an award for programming skills. The judges’ award was presented to The Bionic Bayhawks Team 944B from Chesapeake High School, and the design award went to Team REX 1727A from Dulaney High. Other Baltimore County public schools that participated in the event were Eastern Technical, New Town, Owings Mills, Pikesville, and Towson high schools, and Ridgely Middle School. VEX Robotics offers middle school, high school, and university students a way to learn more about science, technology, engineering, and math while practicing teamwork, leadership, and problem solving.
