Randallstown High to host grand opening of school system’s first stock exchange classroom

Ticker boards with live stock prices to offer real-world financial literacy experiences

Who: Superintendent Dr. Joe A. Hairston will join Randallstown High School administrators, Academy of Finance Advisory Board members, school business partners, and a select group of Randallstown High School students for the grand opening of the school’s new stock exchange classroom. What: The Academy of Finance Program at Randallstown High School will unveil its new stock exchange classroom – the first of its kind in Baltimore County Public Schools – and only the fourth of its kind in the nation. The room, outfitted with ticker boards displaying live stock prices, will offer students firsthand experiences in reading stock quotes and learning how to invest. When: Friday, June 1, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Where: Randallstown High School 4000 Offutt Road Randallstown, MD 21133 Additional information: The Academy of Finance (AOF) program in Baltimore County Public Schools provides the students of Lansdowne, Overlea, and Randallstown high schools with preparation for the real world. With job shadowing, paid internship opportunities, and in-class speakers, students are provided with significant information to help them in their careers and promote lifelong learning.
