Magnet EXPO! to showcase more than 70 programs in 29 Baltimore County schools

What: Hosted by the Baltimore County Public Schools Office of Magnet Programs, the annual Magnet EXPO! is designed to provide information about the school system's magnet programs to students and their families interested in applying to magnet programs for the upcoming school year. Representatives from all 29 schools with magnet programs will be in attendance, and 2012-2013 applications will be available. The EXPO! also will feature art exhibitions, student performances, information about future job markets, and demonstrations and exhibits by career and technology education students. The event is free and open to the public.


When: Saturday, September 24, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Background:
Magnet programs are theme-oriented courses of study that provide students with in-depth experiences in specialized areas of interest. Baltimore County Public Schools has more than 70 elementary, middle, and high school magnet programs in 29 schools across the county. While some magnet programs exist within comprehensive schools, there are also schools whose entire population is determined through the magnet application process.
