TOWSON, MD. - Five Baltimore County Public Schools students were named All-State Dance 2010 winners at the Maryland High School Dance Showcase, and two additional students have received honorable mention recognition.
The All-State Dance winners are Jazsmine McDonald of Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts in Dundalk and Tiana Fernandez, Courtney Lewis, Jessica Pinkett, and Gregory Wood, all students at the George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology in Towson.
Honorable mention recipients are Sia Loukas of Patapsco and Corey Hariel of New Town High School in Owings Mills.
Five of the school system's six high school dance programs participated in the showcase, held on January 8 at Goucher College. Both Carver and Patapsco were selected via adjudication for the evening showcase. Eleven other schools from various counties also were selected for the evening showcase concert. Dancers from New Town, Lansdowne, and Dulaney high schools performed in the informal concert during the day.
All students participated in master classes with teachers from Maryland higher education institutions throughout the day.
