Newest round of national honors for Team BCPS focused on student privacy and video excellence

Latest statewide grant awarded for early learning

TOWSON, MD. – The 25th largest school system ended its fourth quarter with continued national recognition for protecting student privacy and communicating effectively through video.

Baltimore County Public Schools earned a renewal of the prestigious national Trusted Learning Environment (TLE) Seal, first received in 2017, from the CoSN (Consortium for School Networking) for 2019 - 2021. The TLE Seal, which has been awarded to only 16 school systems, indicates that these systems demonstrate a strong commitment to student data privacy and security by meeting a rigorous set of standards. BCPS is the only TLE Seal recipient in the State of Maryland.

BCPS-TV earned both silver and bronze prizes from the 40th Annual Telly Awards for telling our own story to the community. The winning videos were Carver Alum - Amarachi Korie, a profile of a young Alvin Ailey II dancer returning to meet with dance students at her alma mater George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology, and This Is BCPS 2018, a video introduction to the school system.

The latest statewide honor for BCPS was a $1 million grant from the Maryland State Department of Education that allows Halstead, Hawthorne, and Sandy Plains elementary schools to continue offering full-day PreKindergarten.

Additionally, dozens of BCPS students and staff earned national, state, or regional recognition in fields representing the breadth of a well-rounded curriculum – engineering, the arts, athletics, career and technology education, business, finance, and student leadership.
